Ebbsfleet Storytelling

About The Project

Ebbsfleet Storytelling was designed by Laura and Darren at BPFF, who are also residents of Springhead Park in Ebbsfleet. We were keen to find creative ways for our community to connect during lockdown and proposed this collective storytelling and filmmaking project to Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, who are kindly supporting it.

Participants will be ask to write and record one sentence of a story, after reading ‘the story so far’. Eventually a complete story will be realised and all the writers’ voices’, ‘The Community’, will narrate the film. More participants will also provide artwork for the film, to be animated in the edit, both showcasing the art and celebrating the diverse range of people in the community, illustrated by the range of artistic styles present in the film. Finally, other participants will provide creative sound effects for the film, adding another element of community involvement to create something uniquely beautiful. The film will be a collective work that will be a wonderful celebration of our community.

The final film will be shared on our Youtube channel and our website. Once restrictions are lifted and we can resume some of our regular programmes of work, we will show the film, as part of our touring, ‘pop-up’ cinema, ‘Flix in the Stix’

Ways To Get Involved

There are three options and you can choose one, two or all three.

ONE SENTENCE EACH

A story written collectively; each new participant/s adds one sentence after reading ‘the story so far’ until there is a complete and comprehensive story. You will also ‘record your sentence’. The story created will be animated for film.

DRAW

It’s that simple. Draw characters or settings to illustrate the story and these will be turned into beautiful animations for the film. Absolutely anyone can do this!

SFX

Record fun and creative sound effects and we will use these in the film.

How To Get Involved

If you live in Ebbsfleet, Swanscombe or Northfleet you can join as a household or different members of the household can get involved separately or possibly even different households together on group calls - it’s really up to you!
